What does a fire alarm service certificate tell you?
Documentation issued after fire alarm servicing records what was attended to and what was found on that visit. It relates to the alarm system and its servicing. It is not a statement that every fire safety requirement for the premises is satisfied.
What it covers
Servicing documentation relates to the fire alarm system: the visit, the checks carried out and anything found or outstanding at the time.
Read alongside the servicing history, it is what allows anybody to say the system is in known working order.
What it does not cover
It does not speak to fire safety matters outside the alarm system, and it does not predict an inspection outcome. No supplier can promise that.
If a provider suggests a certificate means a premises will pass an inspection, treat that as a reason for caution.
Keeping it usable
- Store certification with the servicing records, not separately
- Keep it somewhere a colleague could find without you
- Keep the previous ones as well, so there is a history
- Know who to contact for a copy if it goes missing
Under a FirePulse contract
Servicing and the relevant servicing certification sit on the same monthly contract, so the records and documentation stay together with ADS Group. If you want to know precisely which documents are issued for your premises, ask before signing and we will confirm it.
